No. 23 Memphis Wins Sixth Straight With 5-2 Victory Over No. 64 Yale

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The 23^rd-ranked University of Memphis men's tennis team extended its win streak Friday night with a 5-2 outdoor victory against No. 64 Yale at Leftwich Tennis Center.

The 6th-straight win improved the Tigers to 14-3 on the year, while the Bulldogs dropped to 9-7.

Memphis didn't waste any time in earning the doubles point. The 34th-ranked duo of Pablo Alemany and Charlie Barry rolled 6-1 at the top spot, while Conor Gannon and Harry Rock followed with a 6-4 victory on court two.

In singles, Memphis got strong play from the bottom of its lineup with a sweep from Juan Zabala (6-1, 6-1) on court six. The Bulldogs didn't make it easy as they got a pair of wins from the fourth and second spots to even the match at 2-2.

Almost immediately after Yale tied it up, Memphis freshman Maxime Dubouch finished off his opponent 7-5, 6-3 on court five to put the Tigers back in front, 3-2.

With Alemany in a tight battle in the third set on court one, Pau Fanlo was fighting tough two courts over. The senior from Barcelona put the finishing touches on a 7-6(7-4), 6-4 victory from the third position to clinch the Tiger victory.

Alemany played his match out and, after falling in the opening set, he came back to win 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.
