No. 22 Memphis Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader at Leftwich Tennis Center

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The 22^nd-ranked University of Memphis men's tennis team cruised through its doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Leftwich Tennis Center with wins over Tennessee Tech and Mississippi Valley State.

Memphis improved to 13-3 overall on the year and has won its last five matches.

The Tigers dominated up and down the lineup in both matches. They got the day started with the doubles point against the Golden Eagles. Charlie Barry and Moritz Kudernatsch won 6-1 on court three, before Harry Rock and Pau Fanlo clinched 6-2 at the top spot.

In singles play, Memphis won the first five matches in straight sets to clinch the 6-1 victory. Tennessee Tech (0-8) earned its only point of the day in the final matchup on court one in three sets.

In the night cap against Mississippi Valley State, the Delta Devils (0-10) only brought four players, so the two sides agreed to play only singles. After winning on court five and six by way of default, the Tigers went on to win its other four singles in 6-0, 6-0 shutouts across the board.

Juan Zabala and Maxime Dubouch each picked up a pair of singles victories on the day.

The Tigers are back in action at Leftwich Tennis Center next Friday (March 29) for a 6 p.m. match against Yale.
