Memphis Softball Hosts UT Martin and Jackson State in 901 Classic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team will host UT Martin and Jackson State in the 901 Classic this weekend at the Tiger Softball Complex in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Tigers (1-13) notched their first win of the season in the Blues City Classic finale defeating Tennessee Tech, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon. Memphis is looking to build off the momentum heading into the 901 Classic this weekend.
Zoe Adebayo continues to be a key piece at the plate for the Tigers, batting at a .300 clip on the weekend, with two runs scored, a home run and a double in the tournament. Presley Morris also showed up big with a batting average of .400, logging four hits and driving in a pair with a double and a run scored.
Rylee Dugar tallied her first win in the circle last weekend after getting the start against the Golden Eagles. Abigail Morgan earned her first career save for Memphis, coming in as relief, allowing no hits in her 3.2 innings of work.
Khamiyah Brown currently leads the Tigers with a .300i, batting average. Brown has tallied four RBI and one home run on nine hits this season. Arianna Cox-Cole, Madison Berner, Adebayo and Brown have all recorded home runs in the first three weeks of play.
Adebayo currently leads Memphis with a .593 slugging percentage and seven RBI. Berner and Brown follow behind with four RBI a piece on the season, proving to be key pieces at the plate for the Tigers. Cox-Cole remains perfect for the Tigers in stolen bases, going 5-for-5 this year.
UT Martin (8-7) is currently boasting a two-game win streak after defeating Chattanooga 2-0 Sunday afternoon and Middle Tennessee 7-3 on Tuesday night.
Three Skyhawks have are batting at a .400 clip or higher this season: Kaci Fuller (.422), Katie Dreiling (.415) and Alli Robinson (.405). The team is batting .321 as a squad along with 78 runs, 69 RBI and four home runs. The Skyhawks are also perfect on the season in stolen bases, going 19-for-19.
UT Martin is led in the circle by Brooklynn Linneman, who owns a 2.03 ERA and four wins in 20.2 innings pitched. Dual-threat Dreiling follows closely with a 2.39 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 26.1 innings of work.
Jackson State (10-3) held a five-game win streak before an 8-0 loss at Louisiana-Monroe Wednesday night. Three Tigers have tallied a .333 batting average or higher to date: Jace Jackson (.395), Meah Almaraz (.351) and Ka'Liyah Gipson (.333). Samiyyah Huckabee and Jackson lead the team in RBI with 28 combined on the season.
Jackson State currently holds a 4.05 team ERA with 43 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched. Sophia Gonzalez leads the Tigers with a 2.68 ERA in 15.2 innings of work.
