Tigers Host Wright State for Three-Game Weekend Series at FedExPark

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team is back at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field for "Heroes Weekend" as they welcome Wright State to the Bluff City for a three-game series in Memphis, Tenn.
The Tigers (5-5) split a pair of games with UT Martin at FedExPark during the week, losing 10-7 to the Skyhawks on Tuesday before taking Wednesday's game 7-3. Freshman Malik Harris earned his first collegiate win on the mound for Memphis and Brayden Sanders struck out five batters in the eighth and ninth innings to notch his second save of the season.
Memphis' opening-weekend rotation at Jacksonville State of David Warren, Luke Ellis and Caden Robinson combined to allow just five earned runs in 14 innings of work while striking out 13 Gamecocks and walking just five. The Tigers rolled out the same rotation a weekend ago against Bowling Green. Warren took the loss on Friday before Ellis took his second-straight no decision on Saturday and Robinson earned his first win of the season on Sunday.
Memphis will roll out the same trio this weekend while the Raiders will counter with RHP Jake Shirk (0-1, 6.55 ERA) on Friday, RHP Ty Roder (0-1, 20.77 ERA) on Saturday and RHP Josh Laisure (0-1, 5.87 ERA) on Sunday.
Wright State (2-5) is coming off a four-game series loss at Oklahoma last weekend, dropping the first three games with the Sooners before taking Sunday's finale, 12-2. The Raiders are led offensively by Gus Gregory (.381 AVG / .552 OBP / .571 SLG / 3 SB) and Jay Luikart (.345 AVG / 2 HR / 7 RBI).
Sophomore outfielder Pierre Seals leads the Tigers with a .351 batting average, 13 hits, four home runs and a triple. Brennan DuBose leads the club with 10 RBI while Daunte Stuart has scored a team-leading 13 runs. Shortstop and right-handed pitcher Jake Curtis leads the squad with four doubles.
FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field will play host to the first-ever meeting between the Tigers and Raiders. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. for Sunday's series finale.

Heroes Weekend at FedExPark will kick off with Friday Happy Hour and $2 beer available from 15 minutes before first pitch until 45 minutes after first pitch (must be 21 years of age or over to purchase and consume). Saturday marks the first Bark at the Park of the season. Educators will be honored Friday, first responders on Saturday and active and former military members on Sunday with $2 tickets available to those groups all weekend long.
