No. 20 Memphis Falls 4-3 to No. 46 LSU

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 20 University of Memphis men's tennis team broke in the new outdoor courts Friday night under the lights against No. 46 LSU at Leftwich Tennis Center, falling 4-3 in a tightly-contested battle.
Memphis dropped to 8-3 on the year, while LSU improved to 10-1.
The LSU Tigers jumped out to an early lead grabbing the doubles point with a pair of 6-3 victories on court one and three.
In singles, Pau Fanlo tied the match with a 7-6(2), 6-1 sweep on court four. Mika Berghaus battled in the No. 6 spot winning the first set, but ultimately fell to Julien Penzlin putting LSU back in front.
On the top two lines, Connor Gannon and Pablo Alemany responded with a pair of three-set wins, putting Memphis on top, 3-2. Harry Rock showed his toughness and grit vying to clinch the match for Memphis on court three, but dropped it 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (8) in the end.
Ultimately, the tightly-contested match came down to Tiger freshman Moritz Kudernatsch's match on court five. After Kudernatsch took the first set 6-4, LSU's Rudy Ceccon came from behind to win the match for the visiting Tigers 7-6 (1), 6-3.
