Tigers Back on Road Tuesday at Little Rock, Open at Home vs. UCA Wednesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team will head to Little Rock, Arkansas, on Tuesday for one more road game at UA-Little Rock (3 p.m.) before coming back to the Bluff City to host Central Arkansas at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field on Wednesday (4 p.m.) for its 2024 home opener.
The Tigers (1-2) dropped their opening-weekend series at Jacksonville State (2-1), picking up a 7-4 win on Saturday afternoon. Both of Memphis' losses came in extra innings (Friday: 6-5, 13 inn., Sunday: 13-9, 10 inn.) JT Durham earned the win on Saturday in three innings of relief and Brayden Sanders pitched the ninth to earn his first save of the season, striking out a pair.
Memphis' opening-weekend rotation at Jacksonville State of David Warren, Luke Ellis and Caden Robinson combined to allow just five earned runs in 14 innings of work while striking out 13 Gamecocks and walking just five. Austin Baskin leads the Tigers with a .308 batting average (4-for-13) while Jacob Compton tallied four extra-base hits over the weekend (2 HR, 2 2B) to slug a team-best .857. Five different Tigers homered in the series as they slugged six as a team.
Gary Hogan Field will play host to the 54th all-time meeting between Little Rock and Memphis on Tuesday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. and coverage available on ESPN+. The Tigers lead the all-time series with the Trojans, 42-11, and have won three-straight meetings including two a season ago.
The Trojans are coming off a series loss to Wichita State over the weekend, however they were able to salvage one win in the series, defeating the Shockers 5-4 on Sunday.
