TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Memphis men's tennis team went down to the wire Friday afternoon at South Florida, but the Tigers never flinched and came away with a 4-3 victory at the Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa.

The win was the second-straight for the Tigers (8-2) and the fourth in the last five outings. It was also their second of the season against an American Athletic Conference opponent.

The Tigers flexed their muscle once again in doubles, grabbing the first point for the eighth time in 10 matches this spring.

The nation's No. 38^th-ranked tandem of Charlie Barry and Pablo Alemany dominated No. 17 Alvin Tudorica and Erik Grevelius 6-2 on court one. The Bulls responded with a 6-4 win on court three, but Harry Rock and Conor Gannon clinched the point for Memphis at the second position with a 6-4 victory.

In singles action, South Florida swept on court one to even the match before the Tigers responded with back-to-back wins. No. 123 Pau Fanlo downed Bruno Oliveria in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) on court three, while Moritz Kudernatsch followed suit (6-4, 6-3) at the fourth line.

The Bulls continued to fight, coming from behind to win on courts two and five, tying the match at 3-3.

Senior Mika Berghaus finished off a tough battle in three sets to clinch the match from the sixth position, winning 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.
