MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Tigers women's volleyball program has been picked to finish first in the AAC East Division this season along with receiving six first place votes in the preseason coach's poll. The Tigers also placed a player on the American Athletic Conference's Preseason All-Conference Team in Bailey Houlihan.
"Its certainly an honor to be recognized by our peers. There are so many well deserving teams in this league that could have been selected." Head coach Sean Burdette shared. "We know the new look league will be very successful and competitive from the top to the bottom, and every team will have to prepare equally for each opponent. Our players have put in a lot of work throughout both the fall and spring seasons to put our program in a position to be considered for the top spot in the east."
Houlihan is no stranger when it comes to player accolades. The senior was named to the AAC Second-Team All-Conference last season and will continue to play a vital role for the Memphis defense. Houlihan was named to five AAC Weekly Honor Rolls and recorded her 1,000th dig during the 2022 season.
"Bailey has put in a lot of hard work, extra reps and time in the film room to receive this honor. Opposing teams and coaches have recognized her play and capabilities on the court." Burdette said.
