Women’s Soccer, Volleyball Named as AAC Team Academic Excellence Award Winners; Jones Selected as Scholar-Athlete of the Year

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger women's soccer and volleyball programs earned Team Academic Excellence Awards from the American Athletic Conference for having the highest grade-point average among all league schools in their sport, and 230 Memphis student-athletes earned AAC All-Academic Team honors for having a 3.0 or higher GPA in the past academic year.
Brooks Monagahn's women's soccer program picked up their eighth nod in 10 seasons since the AAC was founded after recording a program-best 3.85 spring GPA while notching a 3.79 cumulative GPA.
Sean Burdette's volleyball squad earned their second consecutive season of recognition after posting a 3.70 overall GPA for the 2022-23 academic year.
On Wednesday, the AAC announced that Mya Jones had been named as the Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the fifth consecutive Memphis women's soccer player to earn this award from the conference.
As a department, Memphis recorded their highest non-COVID spring GPA with a 3.31 while clocking in with a 3.28 overall GPA for the academic year.
