Dec 05, 2025 | Women's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches announced Friday the women's All-American teams, and Memphis junior Finley Lavin was named to the first team.
Lavin is the third member in program history named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American First Team, and the 10th All-American in total. Lizzy Simonin (2011) and Stasia Mallin (2019) were also first-team honorees. Tanya Boychuk was the most recent All-American in 2021.
Ashley Henderson was named a Third Team All-American behind a team-high 10 goals and nine assists. It's the third year the Tigers have had multiple All-Americans (2011, 2019).
One of four defenders named to the first team, Lavin is the fourth Memphis defender to receive the national honor. It caps a week full of accolades for the Tiger captain, who was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist on Monday and an All-South Region First Team selection on Wednesday. The Jarrettsville, Maryland, native captained the 17-1-3 Tigers through a historic season. She played every minute in 17 of 21 matches, anchoring a Memphis backline that conceded six goals in the regular season and finished with a 0.66 goals-against average.
Lavin converted a penalty in a 1-0 win at Tulsa, her only goal of the season and third of her career. The twice-reigning American Conference Defender of the Year helped post 14 shutouts, tied for fourth-most in the nation and second-most in program history.
