MEMPHIS, Tenn.– The Memphis softball team dropped their final home game, 10-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (8-42) struggled in the circle, giving up 12 runs, including three homeruns in the five innings played. The Knights also held strong defensively allowing only two hits in the game.

"I thought we had a few good moments today but we need to have more consistency across the board." Said head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro. "We need to have better quality play from our pitchers and we need to clean up a little more defensively. Overall I think we saw some good things over the weekend and we need to keep working through the process as we head to conference next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED

•       UCF got up on the board first as A. Evans hit a two-run homerun over the left field wall in the top of the first inning.
•       Linsey Hargis recorded the Tigers' first hit of the game singling through center field on her first pitch in the bottom of the first inning.
•       The Knights put up two more runs as Willis hit a homerun over the left field wall in the top of the second inning. UCF added two more runs before closing out the inning.
•       UCF tallied run number seven in the top of the fifth inning as Macario singled to second base allowing Doherty to run in.
•       The Knights did not slow up as Adams hit a three-run homerun in the top of the fifth inning to increase their lead.

NOTABLES

•       Hallie Siems got the start going 1.0 inning and recorded one strikeout. Drue Thomas came in as relief in the top of the second inning for Siems. Thomas went 1.1 innings. Thomas was replaced by Rylee Dugar in the top of the third inning. Dugar went 2.2 innings and recorded one strikeout.
•       Hargis recorded the Tigers' two hits of the game.

UP NEXT

•       The Tigers head to Tampa, FL next week as the AAC Conference Tournament begins play May 11-13.
