Tigers Host UCF in Home Finale on Senior Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger softball team host to Central Florida in their final regular season series. The Tigers (8-39) are looking to bounce back from their loss to South Florida last weekend and break the five-game losing streak that is currently held. Memphis currently sits in seventh in the AAC softball standings and is vying for a chance to move up with games against Central Florida, that is second in the rankings.
"We are looking forward to this weekend and closing out the regular season at home. We are looking forward to celebrating our seniors and learning from last weekend" head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro said. "We continue to set goals with our players, and we are looking forward to seeing those executed this weekend against Central Florida."
Central Florida (33-19) currently sits second in the AAC standings and is harboring a seven-game win streak. The Knights most recently swept by Houston in their series, April 28-30, and Sarah Willis recorded the program's third perfect game on Friday night. Central Florida is led offensively by Chloe Evans (.348 BA, .619 SLG, 42 RBI) and Jasmine Williams (.301 BA, .429 SLG, 23 RBI).
Two Tigers are currently hitting .300 or higher: Kendall Lee, and Sam Ibison. Aliana Zavala and Meagan Chism lead the team in RBIs with 19, followed by Lee with 14. Zavala leads Memphis in homeruns with four on the season, with Berner right on her tail tallying three so far. Ibison also leads the Tigers in hits with 38 with Lee right behind recording 35 so far. Pitcher Hallie Siems leads the Tigers with 89 strikeouts so far on the season.
Memphis will begin the conference series against Central Florida on Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m. followed by a game Saturday, May 6 at 2 p.m. The series will conclude with a game Sunday morning, May 7 at 12 p.m.
