GREENVILLE. N.C. – The Memphis softball team dropped game two to ECU, 4-2, after a later surge to comeback. The Tigers (7-34) found opportunities late in the game, along with holding the Pirates scoreless after the first inning, however they were unable to pull out the comeback.

"Softball is a game of adjustments and we are looking to make adjustments with every pitch and at bat." head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro said. "We made a few mistakes in the first inning, but I think the girls made some good plays and adjustments throughout to hold ECU through the end of the game."

HOW IT HAPPENED

•       ECU got on the board first as Sinnie hit a triple, followed by Edwards' single to center field bringing Sinnie in for the score in the bottom of the first inning. The Pirates added another run as Edwards reached home on an error by Tigers. ECU added two more runs before ending in the inning.
•       The Tigers held the Pirates from earning run number five in the bottom of the third inning, as Sam Ibison threw the ball into the Meagan Chism at home plate to tag out the runner.
•       Memphis scored its first run in the top of the fifth inning. Chism hit a one-run single to left field, allowing LaNya Bates to run in for the Tigers.
•       Linsey Hargis notched her first homerun of the season, sending the ball over left field for the Tigers in the top of the sixth inning.

NOTABLES

•       Drue Thomas got the start going 0.2 innings. Hallie Siems came in as relief for Thomas in the bottom of the first inning. Siems went 3.1 innings and recorded one strikeout. Thomas reentered in the bottom of the fifth inning. Thomas finished the game going 2.2 innings and recording one strikeout.
•       Hargis went 1-for-2 with one homerun, her first of the season, Chism went 1-for-2 with one RBI and Bates finished the game with one run.

•       The Tigers will wrap up the series against ECU Sunday, April 16, at 11 a.m.
