MARTIN, Tenn. – The Memphis softball team picked up a road win against UT-Martin, defeating the Skyhawks 2-1 Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers (7-32) got up early, holding the lead throughout the entirety of the game.

"I'm proud of the girls for pushing through to the end," head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro said. "I'm proud of how the girls fought and really stuck to the plan that we prepared. I think we really made them work both offensively and defensively. We're just going to keep with the process and use this momentum as we go to ECU this weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED

•       Memphis got on the board first as Linsey Hargis stole home as the Skyhawks attempted to throw out Madison Berner at second base in the top of the first inning.
•       Hargis added another run for the Tigers as she stole home for the second time on a sacrifice fly to right field by Aliana Zavala in the top of the third inning.
•       UT-Martin put up its first run of the game as Pickens hit a homerun over left field in the bottom of the fourth inning.
•       Presley Morris made her way to third base in the top of the sixth inning before being left stranded to end the top of the inning.
•       Rylee Dugar struck out the final batter on three straight pitches with two runners on base to secure the win for the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning.

NOTABLES

•       Dugar got the start going 7.0 innings recording two strikeouts.
•       One Tiger scored runs against UT-Martin: Hargis, both runs stealing home.
•       Five Tigers recorded hits: E'mya Munford, Meagan Chism, Taylor Neely, Hargis and Berner.
•       Hargis went 2-for-4 with two runs. Berner went 3-for-4 with Zavala recorded the lone RBI for the Tigers.

•       The Tigers head to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina this weekend, April 14-16.
