Memphis Wins Big Against Cleveland State in a Split Day Two

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Memphis softball team recorded their largest win of the season as they split day one of the JU/UNF Invitational. The Tigers defeated Cleveland State 8-0 in game one before falling to North Florida University 8-0. The Tigers move to 2-7 overall.

Game One: Memphis 8, Cleveland State 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Memphis struck first with Kendall Lee, Meagan Chism and Neely Taylor running home to put the Tigers up 3-0 in the top of the first inning.
• Kelsi Adams hit an RBI double, sending Presley Morris home before scoring herself in the top of the second inning.
• The Tigers added three more runs in the top of the third; Adams hitting a 2 RBI single to the right side, sending Linsey Hargis and Morris home.

NOTABLES
• Adams went 2-3, three RBIs and one run.
• Six Tigers scored recorded runs today, Lee, Chism, Hargis, Taylor, Adams and Morris.
• Hallie Siems got her first win of the season, allowing two hits and recorded five strikeouts.

Game Two: North Florida 8, Memphis 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Osprey went up first, as Chloe Culp had an RBI double to center field at the bottom of the first inning.
• UNF added to the lead in the bottom of the second inning as L Jackson hit a 2 RBI double down the right field line, followed by s Glover hitting a 2 RBI single to left field to put the Osprey up 5-0.
• UNF finished up its scoring adding three more runs through the bottom of the third and fourth inning.

NOTABLES
• Aliana Zavala, Lee, Berner and Hargis each recorded hits for the Tigers.

UP NEXT
• The Tigers will compete in their final day of the JU/UNF Invitational. Memphis will face off against Penn State at 9 a.m.
