
Memphis Heads to Florida for the JU/UNF Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team heads to Jacksonville, FL for the Jacksonville University and University of North Florida Invitational that will run from Friday, February 17 through Sunday February 19.
The Tigers (0-5) will begin play at the JU/UNF Invitational on Friday against Bethune-Cookman (1-4) at 1:30 p.m. and Jacksonville (3-1) at 4 p.m. They will follow those match ups on Saturday against Cleveland State (0-0) at 2:30 p.m. and North Florida (2-1) at 4:30 p.m. Memphis will close the weekend on Sunday against Penn State (0-0) at 9 a.m.

"Softball season is a marathon not a sprint so we want to be able to show some steady improvement and with the process," said head coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro. "I am looking forward to our team competing this weekend."
After the first weekend of play senior Sam Ibison leads the team with a .445 batting average, along with adding five hits, one run and one RBI.
Hallie Siems and Rylee Dugar both appeared in four games and recorded 18 strikeouts over the weekend.
