Memphis Comes Up Short on Day Two of the SDSU Season Kickoff

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Memphis softball team finished up day two of the SDSU Season Kickoff with games against Arizona State and San Diego State in the SDSU Season Kickoff. The Tigers (0-4) fell to ASU, 10-0, and 7-1 to SDSU.
Game One: ASU 10, Memphis 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
• ASU struck first with Marissa Schuld's single to left field sending in two run in the first inning.
• The Sun Devils added to their lead, with five runs coming in the bottom of the second inning.
• Meagan Chism recorded the Tigers only hit of the game with a single in the second inning.
NOTABLES
• Rylee Dugar recorded her second start of the season, tallying two strike outs.
Game Two: SDSU 7, Memphis 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Aztecs went up first, scoring two runs in the second inning with Cali Decker recording and RBI sing and scored a run.
• Memphis cut the lead in half in the top of the third inning, Sam Ibison sent Taylor Smrt home with a single to center field.
• SDSU added to their lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
NOTABLES
• Hallie Siems got her second start of the season, recording three strikeouts.
• Madi Berner, Ibison, and Smrt all recorded hits in game two.
