Memphis Places Fifth in Season-Opening Bearcat Invitational
Sep 20, 2022 | Men's Golf
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The University of Memphis men's golf team placed fifth out of 13 teams in the program's season-opening Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday. The Tigers shot an 860 (+8) for the three rounds as a team. No. 75-ranked Louisville won the tournament total of 845 (-7).
"Overall, I'm disappointed we weren't in contention, but the first round put us in a tough position and being the first round of the year with three new players, I can wrap my head around it," head coach Blake Smart said following the round. "We hung tough the final two rounds and did a good job adapting to a difficult course. Adam was outstanding in his first DI showing. He showed a lot of grit and his talent level is very high. Making the largest final round move in the field is good momentum heading into an excellent field next week in Chicago."
