Memphis to Host Mississippi State, #10 Ole Miss, & Tulane

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers (12-8) will face their toughest home tests of the season thus far, with five games slated over the next week, two vs. SEC competition and three vs. one of the top teams in the American Athletic Conference. The Tigers will host Mississippi State (15-10) at AutoZone Park Tuesday, Ole Miss (16-7) at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field Wednesday, and open AAC play vs. Tulane (16-8-1) Friday-Sunday.

Mississippi State leads the all-time series 35-13 with a 16-4 edge dating back to 2000. The Bulldogs had won 12 of the 13 meetings between the two programs between 2000 and 2011, but the Tigers are 3-4 since, with a win the last time the teams met in Memphis, April 18, 2018. Mississippi State enters the week off of an SEC series win at home over Alabama, with a pair of one-run wins followed by a Sunday loss to the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs lost their first SEC series of the season, as they dropped two of three games on the road to Georgia. Mississippi State also dropped two of three on the road against Tulane, though both losses came by just one run and the Bulldogs outscored Tulane 33-18 in the series.

The Tigers and Rebels met last week in Oxford, an 11-8 win for then #1 Ole Miss, but the Rebels followed that with a disastrous series at the hands of Tennessee, which had been ranked #1 in multiple other polls. Ole Miss was swept by the Volunteers and got outscored 22-4 over the first two games before a 4-3 loss Sunday. The Rebels lead the all-time series with Memphis 63-39 and have won seven straight matchups with the Tigers. Memphis' last win over Ole Miss was an 11th inning walk-off win March 21, 2017. Ole Miss is slated to face North Alabama Tuesday before the trip to Memphis.

Tulane won seven of the eight regular season matchups with the Tigers last year and holds a 64-42 lead in the all-time series. Memphis won the first meeting between the two teams last season, a 4-3 win in New Orleans, but the Green Wave won the next seven games, which included a four-game sweep in Memphis. Tulane enters this week off of a home series win over Dayton and took two of three from Mississippi State at home earlier this season. The Green Wave will face New Orleans Tuesday before they come to Memphis to open up conference action. Tulane and Memphis will also conclude the regular season against one another, with a three-game series in New Orleans May 19-21.
