Tigers Round Out Home Stand with Mississippi State, East Carolina

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-Â In their final week at home in the month of March, the Tiger Softball team will face a tough test when they host the Bulldogs of Mississippi State on Wednesday before opening American Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game series with the Pirates of East Carolina.

Memphis (12-17) took three of their four games of the Tiger Classic this past weekend, saw Kendall Lee, Gracie Morton and Alyssa Dean hit consistently over .500 while Hannah Bassham and Camryn Wineinger combined for nine hits and six runs scored. The Tigers have won four of their last six games and have five batters hitting over .300 in their last 10 contests.

Hallie Siems continues to dominate in the pitcher's circle for Memphis; she had a 2.55 ERA last week where she recorded 16 strikeouts in four appearances. For the season, Siems, Kailey Hilderbrand and Mikayla Hoschak have spent the most time leading the Tigers with a combined 9-13 record and 103 strikeouts.

Mississippi State (19-10, 4-2 SEC) comes into Wednesday's game on a three-game winning streak that came from a series sweep of Ole Miss over the weekend. The Bulldogs outscored their in-state rival 22-11 and blanked them on the scoreboard in the final contest.

For the season, Mia Davidson leads the team with a .384 BA with 11 homeruns and 26 RBI. She is also currently leading the SEC in total homeruns and ranks in the top-10 in homeruns per game, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

In the pitcher's circle, Kenley Hawk has been the Bulldogs top resource with a 1.51 ERA and 8-2 record in 14 appearances. The Palestine, Ark. Native currently ranks in the top-15 in the SEC in ERA and lowest amount of hits per seven innings.

East Carolina (16-11) is currently on a five-game winning streak after sweeping Elon and College of Charleston this past week. The Pirates outscored their opponents 26-4 over the five-game span.

For the season, ECU has four players all batting .300 or better with Faith Jarvis leading the way with a .395 BA with 34 hits and 20 runs scored. The Pirates pitching has been strong this season, holding their opponents to under a .265 average while striking out 119 batters in the process.Â

Madisyn Davis currently leads the team with a 1.84 ERA with a. 5-1 record in 15 appearances. Her 40 strikeouts leads the team while Logyn Estes and Taylor Smith all both have WHIPs under 1.3.

ECU will play UNCW before making the trip to Memphis.
