Tigers Compete in Mid-State Classic Before Returning Home for Final Tournament This Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-Â After an unnormal cold weekend in the Mid-South that canceled part of the UofM Tournament, the Tigers (9-15) will play in their first neutral site competition (Columbia, Tenn.) in nearly two weeks when they take on #18 Tennessee in the Mid-State Classic before coming home for the Tiger Classic this Friday and Saturday.

Gracie Morton and Camryn Wineinger have been the constants for the Tigers this season, leading the team with 32 and 21 hits, respectively, while Morton, Wineinger and Alyssa Dean are all batting .300 or better. Five different players for Memphis have recorded double-digit hits through the first part of the season while Wineinger, Taylor Smrt and Kendall Lee have combined for 37 of the team's RBI.

In the pitcher's circle, Hallie Siems has a team-leading four wins and a 2.73 ERA along with 48 strikeouts in 59.0 innings of work to lead the team.Â

Morton currently ranks as one of the best hitters in the country ranking second in the AAC and 28th in Division I in total hits.

Tennessee (18-6) is currently on a nine-game winning streak that was extended when they opened SEC play this past weekend at #8/#14 Missouri. Erin Edmoundson picked up both wins for the Vol's while Zaida Puni went 4-6 from the plate with two homeruns and four RBI.

For the season, Kiki Milloy leads the team with a .373 BA while four other Tennessee hitters are recording a .300 BA or better. The Vol's pitching has been strong this season with Edmoundson, Ryleigh Ehite and Ashley Rogers all with a 2.00 ERA or lower while Rogers and Edmoundson have combined for 109 of the team's 135 strikeouts.
