Memphis will relish the opportunity to be back home, as the 1-7 road trip ran the Tigers' road record this season to 1-15 compared to a 9-4 record in the friendly confines of FedExPark. The Tigers are also likely done with ranked competition this season, as ECU is the lone top-25 team in the AAC. Wichita State, ranked in the 40's according to most polls, is the only other potentially ranked team on the Tigers' schedule. Memphis finishes the regular season on the road vs. the Shockers. Like Memphis' road struggles, the Tigers have gone 0-8 vs. ranked competition this season.
The Bearcats sit in the bottom half of the conference in many pitching categories, as their 6.61 team ERA is nearly half a run worse than anyone else in the conference. Cincinnati has issued the most walks (171), third-most home runs (30), second-most doubles (61), and has the fourth-worst OBA (.266). Offensively, Cincinnati sits in the middle of the pack across the board. The Bearcats are fourth in the AAC in batting average (.270), third in SLG% (.442), third in home runs (37), and third in runs scored (183).
The historical series between the two programs stands at 60-42 in favor of the Tigers, dating back to 1978. Cincinnati has dominated the series recently, as the Bearcats have won eight of the past 10 meetings. The Tigers haven't taken a series from Cincinnati since 2017, when they won two of three on the road against the Bearcats.
Cincinnati didn't play as tough of a non-conference schedule as the Tigers but were swept in three games against No. 25 Clemson and picked up a win against No. 5 Louisville. The Bearcats lost a series at Western Kentucky, split a four-game series on the road against UNC Wilmington, swept Western Michigan at home, and split a four-game series vs. Xavier. In conference play, like Memphis, the Bearcats were swept in Greenville by ECU. Last weekend, Cincinnati split a four-game home series with UCF, the team picked to finish second in the AAC.
