Memphis Softball falls in series finale against Indiana State

MEMPHIS, TENN. –Memphis softball falls to Indiana State in series finale 5-1. Tigers finish the series 1-2 and the week 3-4.
Olivia Johnson got the start for the Tigers in circle. She went an inning and a third giving up three runs on four hits. Sophomore Chyanne Ellett came in relief for Johnson. Ellett struck out eight batters in five and two thirds innings, giving up two runs on five hits.
Gabbi Schnaiter got the start in the circle for the Sycamores. She went five innings only giving up one run on three hits. Arielle Blankenship got the save for the Sycamores. She now has two saves on the year.
The Sycamores got on the board in the first inning with a RBI single short by Lexie Siwek. Indiana State got two more runs in the second inning, on a two run home run by right fielder Belle Peterson in left center.
After two scoreless innings, Amanda Guerico led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run to left center to make it 4-0. Indiana State would score one more run in the inning.
The Tigers got one run back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Pinch hitter Ryleigh Aungst hit a single off the right center fence to score Alyssa Dean from second to make it 5-1.
The Tigers fall to 4-14 and the Sycamores improve to 6-10.

The Tigers are back in action Wednesday, March 17th, on the road at Murray State. The Tigers are 8-4 all-time against the Racers and 4-1 in Murray. The Tigers will be back at Memphis Softball Complex Saturday and Sunday for a three game series versus Louisiana Tech.
