MURRAY, KY. –Memphis softball wins on the road in extras at Murray State 3-2. This is the first extra innings game for the Tigers this season and the first since a 3-10 home loss to Wichita State April 12, 2019. The Tigers are now 9-4 all-time against the Racers and 5-1 in Murray, Kentucky.

Hallie Siems got the start tonight in the circle for the Tigers. She went five innings, giving up two runs on two hits. Chyanne Ellet got the win throwing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

The Tigers got on the board first in the second inning, as Delaney Smith hit a single to left to score Meagan Chism. Chism got the Tigers their second run of the game in the third inning, as she hit a double to left scoring Kendall Lee.

Murray State would tie it up in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior Sierra Gilmore hit a solo home run for the first Racer run of the night. Later in the inning, Jensen Striegel hit an RBI single to score Jordan Caple and tie it 2-2.

After going into the extra innings, Gracie Morton scored from third on a throwing error by third baseman Lily Fischer to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead.

The Tigers improve to 5-14 and the Racers fall to 7-14.

The Tigers will be back at Memphis Softball Complex Saturday and Sunday for a three game series versus Louisiana Tech. The Tigers are 1-1 all-time against the Bulldogs. Louisiana Tech comes into the weekend with a record of 5-11. First game Saturday is scheduled for 1:00p.m.
