Memphis Softball splits doubleheader with Indiana State

MEMPHIS, TENN. –Memphis softball splits doubleheader with Indiana State 6-1 and 8-2. The Tigers are now 4-3 all-time against the Sycamores.
GAME 1
Mariah Nichols got the start in the circle for the Tigers. She started the game off with three straight strikeouts in the first inning then had a one two three inning in second. Nichols went three and a thirds innings, giving up six runs on five hits. Kailey Hilderbrand finished the game for the Tigers only giving up three and striking out three.
After two scoreless innings for both teams, Indiana State scored two runs in the third inning. First baseman Amanda Guerico got the Sycamores on the board with a two run RBI to right field. Indiana St would add four more runs in the fourth inning bringing the score to 6-0.
The Tigers would get one run back in the bottom of the fourth inning as Alyssa Dean scored on a pass ball to make it 6-1. The Tigers finished game one with four hits and two walks.
GAME 2
Hallie Siems got her third start of the season in the circle for the Tigers. Siems threw a complete game, giving up two runs on 6 hits. She struck out six batters on 10
After a scoreless first inning, the Tigers got on the board in the second scoring two runs. Aliana Zavala hit an RBI single to left to score Brady Rowland and Ryleigh Aungst. After a scoreless third, in the top of the fourth inning TeAnn Bringle hit a home run over the left center field fence to make it 2-2. The Tigers would answer in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs of their own. Baylee Smith hit a triple to right field in the inning as well. In the bottom of the fifth, Kendall Lee hit a three run RBI double to center to extend the lead to 8-2.
The Tigers finished the game with 11 hits, four extra base hits and seven RBIs.
The Tigers are now 4-13 and the Sycamores are 5-10.

The Tigers are back at Memphis Softball Complex Sunday to finish their three game series with Indiana St. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
