Memphis Softball wins both games of doubleheader at home over Mississippi Valley State.

MEMPHIS, TENN. –Memphis softball wins both games of doubleheader at home over Mississippi Valley State 9-0 and 12-0. The Tigers are now 13-1 overall against the Devilettes.

GAME 1
Chyanne Ellett got the start for the Tigers in circle. She went three innings, only allowing one hit and struck out five. Olivia Johnson and Zoey LeCompte were in the circle for an inning for the Tigers as well. Johnson struck out one and LeCompte struck out two.

The Tigers bats were hot all day from the start. They scored three runs in the first inning off of four hits including a Gracie Morton double to lead off the day. Memphis added four more runs in the bottom of the second innings off seven hits. Morton started the third inning off with a solo home run to left center. Two batters later Alyssa Dean hit a home run of her own off the scoreboard in right center to make it 9-0.

The Tigers finished the game with13 total hits, including six extra base hits. The Devilettes finished the game with only one hit.

GAME 2
Zoey LeCompte got her first start of the season in the circle for the Tigers. She went three innings only allowing two hits. Hallie Siems finished out the game, throwing two innings giving up zero hits and struck out four.

The Tigers bats stayed hot in game two. The Tigers put up five runs in the first inning, including a two run RBI single by Dean. In the third inning, Meagan Chism hit an RBI double to left center to score Dean and make the lead 6-0. The Tigers would add one more run in the inning. In the fourth, Baylee Smith would get the scoring going again with a single through the left side scoring Morton. Baylee Smith would score on sac fly RBI to right by Kendall Lee. Dean came up next and hit a solo home run to left center. The Tigers would add two more runs in the inning to make it 12-0.

The Devilettes finished the game with two hits from shortstop Brianna Alston and third baseman Karlee Schierbeek.

The Tigers have improved to 3-12 while the Devilettes have dropped to 1-9.

The Tigers are back at Memphis Softball Complex Saturday and Sunday with a three game series against the Indiana State. The Tigers will play the Sycamores in a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1p.m. The Tigers are 3-2 all-time against the Sycamores. Indiana State won the last matchup between the two teams 13-5 last season at home in the U of M Softball Tournament.
