Women's Tennis garners 11th consecutive ITA All-Academic Team honor

Five student-athletes named ITA Scholar Athletes
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After another impressive academic year, Memphis women's tennis earned ITA All-Academic Team honors while five student-athletes were recognized as Scholar Athletes, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
This week's announcement marks the 11th consecutive season and 14th overall the Memphis women's tennis program has garnered ITA All-Academic Team honors.
An ITA All-Academic Team award is available for any program that reaches a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher during the 2019-20 academic year. Scholar Athlete status is awarded to eligible student-athletes who have a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
The Memphis women's tennis program posted a 3.64 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year, including an athletic department record streak of 51 consecutive semesters with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Additionally, all nine student-athletes earned a spot on the University's Academic Honor Roll at the conclusion of the spring semester.
Individually, senior Josephine Cao (4.0, Health Studies), juniors Laura Bente (3.53, International Business) and Lina Hohnhold (4.0, Psychology) and freshmen Aran Teixido Garcia (3.92, Advertising/Marketing) and Monique Woog (4.0, Undeclared) were named an ITA Scholar Athlete.
Bente and Hohnhold made their third appearances on the ITA Scholar Athlete list, while Cao was named an ITA Scholar Athlete for the second straight season.
