Coming down the stretch of conference play, Memphis seeks to gain ground in The American standings and a spot in the league tournament.
The Tigers won an 11-9 decision in their midweek contest against Arkansas State. Behind a seven-run first inning, Memphis used early offense to gain momentum and found good work from the bullpen to fend off the Red Wolves. Cale Hennemann posted the Tigers' third grand slam of the season to lead the way with four RBI.
Earlier this week, senior Kyle Ouellette was named to The American's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday following a strong five-game stretch.
Over the Tigers' five games last week, Ouellette hit .476 (10-for-21), posted a .571 slugging percentage and added two doubles and six RBI. The senior also drew three walks and stole a pair of bases.
USF visits Memphis having won six of the last seven. The Bulls claimed a 6-4 win in their midweek matchup against Stetson and previously took two of three against Houston last weekend.
Bulls' senior Joe Genord leads the team with a .351 average and 46 RBI. Genord also sits third all-time in program history with 43 career home runs.
USF leads the all-time series by a 29-20 margin with Memphis looking for its first series win against the Bulls since 2016.
