Baseball kicks off five-game home stand with Arkansas State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Closing the month of April, Memphis baseball returns home to host Arkansas State on Tuesday with first pitch from FedExPark slated for 6 p.m.

Memphis, who also opened the month of April against the Red Wolves, kicks off a five-game home stand on Tuesday. The Tigers won the first meeting on Apr. 3. Memphis used a five-run ninth inning to register a 7-4 come-from-behind win.

Memphis posted a 3-2 week with a pair of wins against North Alabama and a victory against UCF in its weekend slate. Senior Kyle Ouellette was named to The American's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday following a strong five-game stretch.

Over the Tigers' five games last week, Ouellette hit .476 (10-for-21), posted a .571 slugging percentage and added two doubles and six RBI. The senior also drew three walks and stole a pair of bases.

Ouellette had multiple-hit efforts in four of the five contests and enjoyed a 4-RBI performance in the Tigers' 12-7 win at UCF on Saturday.

Arkansas State dropped two of three against ULM in its conference series over the weekend. Sky-Lar Culver leads the Red Wolves offensive, hitting at a .331 clip with 38 RBI.

Memphis swept the season series against the Red Wolves last year, turning in back-to-back, home-and-away wins on Apr. 10-11. With The Tigers' win earlier in the month, Memphis now leads the all-time series by a 63-33 margin since 1978.
