Memphis split a doubleheader against Tulane in its last weekend series before sweeping a midweek series against North Alabama on Monday and Tuesday. Against the Lions on Tuesday, Memphis scored a season-high 18 runs on a season-best 17 hits. The Tigers also clubbed four homers in the game – two from Hunter Goodman and one each from Payton Marshall and Evan Bell.
Seniors Kyle Ouellette and Colton Neel have enjoyed strong performances at the plate since last Saturday. Ouellette has led the team in hitting during the last four games with a .538 mark, while adding a double and two RBI. Neel has hit .467 over the last week with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI.
Neel has also developed a pivotal role in the Memphis bullpen as the Tigers' closer. After earning two more saves since Saturday, the senior has tallied eight saves in 13 appearances with 19 strikeouts. His eight saves are tied for second in the league and are tied for fifth in the program's single-season history.
The Knights dropped two of three at Wichita State last weekend before posting a 5-4 win against Bethune-Cookman in walk-off fashion on Tuesday.
UCF features three players in its lineup hitting over .300. Tyler Osik (.336), Ray Alejo (.320) and Dallas Beavers (.316) help lead a Knights' offense that ranks third among the league in doubles (77), home runs (38), slugging percentage (.417) and runs scored (244).
Although Memphis leads the all-time meetings by a 22-20 ledger, the Tigers are looking for their first series win since 2013.
