Tigers welcome UNC Wilmington to FedExPark

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the first time in each program's histories, Memphis and UNC Wilmington will meet on the diamond for a three-game series this weekend at FedExPark.

In their last outing, the Tigers downed Mississippi Valley State 8-1 on Tuesday at FedExPark. The Tigers used balanced offense with 12 hits and scored in each inning past the third. Memphis also found extra-base hits from Nick Vaage, Hunter Goodman and Cale Hennemann. The Tigers' 36 doubles this season rank 23rd nationally and top the league.
On the mound, Alex Hicks threw seven innings of one-hit baseball and struck out eight against the Delta Devils. Memphis' 12 total strike outs on Tuesday drove their season total to 161. The staff's 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings ratio sits 15th in the country.
Last weekend, the Memphis offense exploded for 31 runs on 40 hits in the three-game sweep at WKU. Helping pace the offense, Goodman was tabbed to The American's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The rookie hit .429 in four games last week with three RBI, two doubles and plated six runs.
UNC Wilmington visits Memphis winners in four of its last five contests. Following a home sweep against Siena, the Seahawks dropped an 11-4 outing against North Carolina on Wednesday. Cole Weiss leads the offense, hitting .379 with a team-best 25 RBI.
