Memphis welcomes Murray State to FedExPark

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a 1-2 opening weekend, Memphis baseball will continue its homestand with a familiar foe in Murray State on Wednesday. First pitch from FedExPark is set for 3 p.m.

The Tigers (1-2) split their Opening Day double-header against Indiana on Saturday before the Hoosiers claimed the weekend series on Sunday. Senior RHP Alex Hicks registered the win on the mound in Game 2 Saturday. The Collierville, Tenn., native threw five shutout innings and struck out eight batters. Hicks was named to the AAC Honor Roll on Monday following his performance.
Offensively, freshman Hunter Goodman led the Tigers in the 6-3 win on Saturday. The newcomer enjoyed a 3-for-4 outing with four RBIs. As a team, Memphis posted seven doubles on the weekend.
Murray State (0-3) visits Memphis after dropping its first three games of the season at Oral Roberts. Ryan Perkins went 4-for-11 in the opening weekend with a pair of RBIs, while Wes Schad tallied a home run and 3 RBIs.
The Tigers lead the all-time series against Murray State, 42-23. Memphis has taken the last two meetings on the diamond and six of the last seven.
