Junior right side hitter was an all-conference second team pick in 2018.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis volleyball junior Hannah Flowers has been named to the 2019 All-American Athletic Conference first team, the league office announced Wednesday. It is the second-straight season Flowers received all-league honors, as she was a second team pick in 2018.
Â
Flowers is the first Tiger to earn all-conference first team recognition since Lauren Wright did so in 2014. The Wildwood, Mo., native also is the first Tiger since Wright to receive all-league honors in consecutive years. Both players were second team picks first (Flowers in 2018; Wright in 2013) and first team selections the following season (Flowers in 2019; Wright in 2014).
Â
Prior to the start of the 2019 campaign, Flowers was a preseason All-American Athletic Conference selection.
Â
During the season, Flowers earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week once (Oct. 21) and was named to The American's Weekly Honor Roll three times.
Â
Last weekend, Flowers joined an elite club in Memphis volleyball history as she downed the 1,000th kill of her career. She has 1,013 career kills. Flowers is the 25th player in program history to reach the 1,000-kills milestone. She also is only the seventh Tiger to reach 1,000 kills in three seasons.
Â
Flowers is ranked fifth in The American in kills per set (3.50) and seventh in hitting percentage (.329). She leads The American in aces per set (0.45). She finished the season as the team's leader in kills (383) and aces (48).
Â
Memphis finished the regular season with a 17-11 overall record and a 6-10 conference mark.
