Five Tigers advance in Day Two of ITA Regional Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Day two of the women's tennis ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships yielded eight wins for the Tigers as five student-athletes advanced in their respective draws.
In singles play, Laura Bente advanced to the fourth round of the main draw after a pair of three-set wins on Friday. The junior first turned in a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win against Tennessee's Callie Creath, before finishing the day with another comeback win against Kentucky's Carla Girbau.
Junior Alisha Reayer and freshman Aran Teixido Garcia also tallied second-round victories in the singles main draw before dropping their third-round matchups.
In the main draw of doubles action, Teixido Garcia and junior Katherine Cao defeated the No. 5 seed of the tournament to advance to the quarterfinal round. The duo will shift their focus to face the No. 1 seed of Emma Kurtz and Anna Ross of Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Sophomore Hannah Davies and freshman Monique Woog punched their ticket to the quarterfinal round in the Doubles B Flight draw with an 8-3 victory against Southeast Missouri's Vivian Lai and Teona Velkoska.
Saturday's action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
