Monique Woog of Lakeland signs with Tigers
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's tennis head coach Hayden Perez announced the addition of local product Monique Woog.
Following a standout prep career, Woog will join the Tigers program in fall 2019.
"Associate head coach Ryan Haymond and I are excited to announce that Monique Woog from Lakeland, Tenn., has committed to join our team beginning in the Fall of 2019," Perez said. "Monique is a local talent that has decided to stay close to home and we couldn't be happier."
Woog is ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee, according to TennisRecruiting.com. She has been rated as high as No. 16 in the USTA Southern Section and currently ranks No. 122 nationally.
Most recently, Woog won six matches at the USTA Southern Closed Championships, one of the most difficult Sectional Championships in the country. She claimed a title at the USTA/STA Icy Hot Winter Indoor Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., this past winter. She and her partner also took third place in doubles.
"More than anything she has accomplished on the court, we are happy to have Monique the person," Perez added. "Monique has all the attributes we look for in members of the Memphis women's tennis program. Her character and personality are second to none. Her work ethic is amazing and we cannot wait to coach her beginning this fall."
