Â
The Knights won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-18. With the loss, Memphis drops to 7-9 overall and 0-4 in the league. UCF improves to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in The American.

Head coach Sean Burdette comments
"I saw some good fight today. We came out and made some untimely errors and let them get an early lead. But, we came battling back and that's what we've talked about. UCF and USF are two of the top teams in the conference, and it was a tough home-opening weekend in league play for us. I liked our resiliency and our fight out there today.
Â
"Hannah (Flowers) has been really steady for us, and I can't ask for anything more (from her). She's leading us in kills, and her hitting percentage is good. But, we need multiple players to step up and be consistent in the same way. We don't expect perfection, but we want to keep chipping away and get multiple players in that double-digit column for kills.
Â
"Meredith (Wallace) has been out due to injuries, but she fought today. She came on and was second in kills for us and had a great hitting percentage. If we get a couple more players doing the same thing, then the sky's the limit for us."
