Bawden, Harris pace the UofM in team's second fall tournament
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The University of Memphis will enter the final round of The Windon Memorial Golf Classic Monday within striking distance of the leaders.

The Tigers, playing in their second fall tournament, posted a 3-over-par 579 on the opening 36 holes Sunday, 12 shots behind leader Michigan State. Memphis is in fifth place, trailing Michigan State (567), UCLA (574), Northern Illinois (575) and Marquette (576) in the 16-team field.

The final 18 holes of the 54-hole event will be played Monday.

After the Tigers played the first 18 holes at 1-over 289, they were tied for third with defending champion Northwestern and Indiana. Bradley Bawden led the opening-round charge with a 4-under-par 68 on The Knollwood Club's 7,202-yard layout. Isaiah Jackson backed Bawden with a 2-under 70.

In the second round, Chase Harris paced the Tigers with a 3-under 69 and Rodi Vlasveld added a 1-over 73 for the UofM, which shot 2-over 290.
Bawden is tied for 10th place at 1-under 143 through 36 holes and Harris is one shot behind at 144 and tied for 18th. Jackson dropped back after the opening round by shooting a 5-over 77 for a total of 147. Vlasveld is at 149.

Landon Carner, a freshman from Birmingham, made his debut for the Tigers and shot 78-73 for 151.

Memphis opened its fall season last week at Colonial Country Club by placing second – by two strokes – to Chattanooga in the Memphis Intercollegiate. At the Intercollegiate, the Tigers fired a record-tying 13-under par in the final round to make a strong run at Chattanooga.
