Memphis and Wichita State Split Doubleheader Friday

Tigers win Game 1 on Cale Hennemann walk off
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis and Wichita State split a doubleheader Friday at FedExPark, with the Tigers taking Game 1, 4-3, and the Shockers evening the series with an 8-4 win in Game 2.
The two teams will play the series finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.
GAME 1
Cale Hennemann hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to lead Memphis to a 4-3 win over Wichita State in Game 1 Friday at FedExPark. The win was the third-straight for the Tigers, marking the first time this season for Memphis to win three-straight games.
Senior pitcher Connor Alexander made his final career start and pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Riley Cabral pitched the final three innings in relief and picked up the win.
Wichita State took an early lead on back-to-back two-out doubles in the top of the first inning. The Shockers scored one more run in the second on a sacrifice fly to go up 2-0.
The Tigers tied the game up 2-2 in the sixth inning. Alec Trela doubled and moved to third base on a wild pitch before scoring on an RBI groundout by Kyle Ouellette. Nick Vaage knotted the game with a solo home run to right-center.
The Shockers came right back though to retake the lead in the top of the seventh inning. Riley Cabral came out of the bullpen with a runner on and nobody out and an RBI single allowed the go-ahead run to come in.
Memphis tied the game back up in the eighth inning after Tyler Webb hit a one-out triple and Ouellette drove him in with an RBI single.
The Tigers rallied and walked off for the win in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jason Santana started the inning with a single and Kyle O'Keefe sacrificed him into scoring position.
Evan Bell pinch-ran for Santana, and scored the winning run on an RBI single by Hennemann.
GAME 2
Wichita State jumped all over Bowlan and the Tigers to start Game 2, scoring four runs on five hits in the top of the first inning. Bowlan never completely settled into the game, having to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the second inning as well.
Bowlan pitched clean third and fourth innings, but was lifted after allowing three-runs in the top of the fifth.
Memphis cut into the Wichita State lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Three Tiger hitters were hit by pitch to reach base and Kyle Ouellette and Jason Santana both hit RBI singles.
The Tigers tied the game up 4-4 in the fourth inning on three-straight two-out singles. Carlos Williams and Cale Hennemann both singled and Tyler Webb drove them both in with his single.
The Shockers quickly came back to retake the lead with three runs, using two homers, in the top of the fifth inning.
Wichita State tacked on another run in the seventh inning on a wild pitch to go up 8-4.
Taylor Bobo pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts, in what was likely his last career outing. Bobo ended the ninth with two strikeouts and an infield pop up.
