Tigers held a 2-1 lead halfway through the game

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Tulane scored 11 runs over the final five innings to beat Memphis 13-2 Saturday at Turchin Stadium. The Tigers (17-34, 3-17) will try to salvage the series with the Green Wave Sunday at 1 p.m.

For the second-straight day, Memphis grabbed the first lead of the game. The Tigers scored one run on a bases-loaded walk by Kyle Ouellette in the first but a double play left the bases loaded to end the inning.

Just like Friday night, Tulane used a solo home run to tie the game up 1-1. Grant Matthews hit his second homer in as many days to level the score in the second inning.

The Tigers bounced right back to retake the lead in the top of the third inning. Tyler Webb collected his second hit of the game before Alec Trela doubled to drive him in to go back in front, 2-1.

Webb and Cale Hennemann both finished with two hits in the game. Colton Neel went 2-for-4 with a double.

The Green Wave came back to tie the game up again in the fourth inning, but Bowlan did well to limit the damage. Tulane put two runners on base with nobody out and in the end the Green Wave managed just a sacrifice fly to tie the game 2-2.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Memphis caught a Tulane player in a rundown that would have ended the inning with the game still tied 2-2. But the Tigers were unable to get the runner out and the Green Wave went on to score three two-out runs to take a 5-2 lead.

Tulane blew the game open from that point on, scoring one in the sixth, six more in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Riley Cabral and Alex Hicks both pitched in relief for the sixth and seventh innings. Colton Neel pitched one inning of relief, his first appearance on the mound since February.
