Softball uses the midweek to prepare for conference series this weekend
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the second-straight week, the University of Memphis softball team is receiving votes in the ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 Poll. With four games on tap this week, the Tigers have the opportunity to continue to improve on their historic start to the season. First up for Memphis is Belmont at the Tigers Softball Complex Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. CT. Â

- Historically, the Tigers have had great success against Belmont. Overall, Memphis is 10-3 against the Bruins with wins is five of the last six meetings.
- Last year, Memphis defeated Belmont by a score of 5-3 in Memphis before falling to the Bruins in 11 innings by a score of 5-4 later in the year.
- Molly Smith leads Memphis in the circle with a 15-4 overall record. Smith is seventh in the country with seven shutouts to her name. Â

- Belmont currently owns a 20-7 record, with a 1-3 record in OVC play.
- Lexi Rouse leads the Bruins in batting with a .382 batting average and eight home runs.
- As a team, Belmont hits .294, with 33 doubles and 17 home runs.
- The Belmont pitching staff has an ERA of 1.77, holding opposing teams to a .198 batting average.
- Bruins pitcher Brooklin Lee has tossed a team-best 108.2 innings, including 13 complete games, and has maintained a 1.22 ERA. She ranks third in the NCAA with eight shutouts this season.
- Belmont has recorded 11 shutouts on the year, while only suffering one, coming against Butler.
