Memphis looks to win its third conference series Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Memphis softball team will look to take the series Sunday morning after dropping game two Saturday to UCF by a score of 5-4. Memphis falls to 30-13 on the year and 6-5 in American Athletic Conference play.
Â
UCF took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning against the Tigers that did not last long. In the top of the second, the Tigers had an answer with three runs on three hits. Kendall Lee, Brooke Lee, and Addison Maxwell all registered hits in the inning.
Â
The Knights battled back to regain the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Three hits combined with a Memphis error led to a four-run inning by UCF.
Â
Memphis scored one more in the top of the fourth to cut the UCF lead down to one, but that proved to be the final run scored by the Tiger offense. Memphis threatened in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded, but was unable to bring the game-tying run home.
Â
Mariah Nichols was handed her seventh loss of the season after pitching 2.1 innings for the Tigers. Bayleigh Wisher pitched 2.2 scoreless innings for the Tigers in her first appearance since March 17.
Â
