Memphis now embarks on four-game road trip
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis was held to just one run on five hits as the Tigers lost 4-1 to Little Rock Saturday at FedExPark. The Tigers scored one run in the first inning and was held scoreless the rest of the way.
The Tigers (6-10) will now head back out on the road for the next four games, playing at Auburn on Wednesday and at North Florida next weekend.
Alex Hicks started and pitched six innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out three batters.
Little Rock used a two-run double in the top of the first inning to grab an early lead and never looked back.
The Tigers did get a run back in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Alec Trela to drive in Tyler Webb. That was all the offense the Tigers could manage though.
The Trojans added to their lead in the seventh inning on several freebies by Tiger pitchers. Memphis hit a batter and walked three to make the score 4-1. Takoda Metoxen came out of the bullpen and got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
Metoxen then pitched a scoreless eighth inning to keep it 4-1.
Webb gave the Tigers a chance to rally in the eighth, starting the inning with a double but Memphis was unable to drive him in. He finished 2-for-4 for the Tigers only multiple-hit performance.
Drew Talley pitched a scoreless top of the ninth out of the bullpen.
