Softball Comes Home To Host Blues City Classic This Weekend

Memphis opens the home schedule against Fort Wayne Friday afternoon
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team opens its home slate with the first of its three home tournaments this weekend. The Blues City Classic begins Friday morning at 11 a.m. with the Tigers wrapping up the day with a 5:30 p.m. game against Fort Wayne.

The Tigers will play a total of four games throughout the weekend, with games on Saturday against Bradley and UL Monroe, and a Sunday game against UMKC. For the complete tournament schedule, click here.

- After finishing their final road tournament in Louisiana, Memphis holds a 7-5 record this season.
- Kyler Trosclair Klatt leads the Tiger offense with 10 of the team's 92 hits.
- Two Memphis pitchers have a sub 1.00 ERA. Mariah Nichols leads the team with a 0.80 ERA, and Molly Smith maintains a 0.86 ERA. The two have combined for 65 strikeouts.

- Five Fort Wayne batters have collected 10-plus hits this season, led by Maria Palmegiani's 14 and pitcher Bailey Benefiel leads the Mastodons in the circle with a 5-2 record and 0.97 ERA.
- The Bradley Braves have started the 2018 season with a 4-6 record.
- Bradley sophomore Kealia Wysocki leads the team with a pair of home runs.
- UL Monroe sits at 8-5 through 13 contests this season.
- Warhawk outfielder Sydney McKay has recorded 23 hits through 13 games.
- The Warhawks are active on the base paths, stealing 27 bases to date.
- UMKC comes to Memphis with a 3-7 overall record and is led by Maegan Rollow in batting average (.400) and Kelsey Goodwin in RBIs (10).
- Olivia Fluehr leads the Kangaroos in both pitching appearances (8) and home runs hit (2). She carries a team-low 4.40 ERA.
