Softball Sweeps UT Martin In Midweek Doubleheader

Kyler Trosclair breaks career stolen base record; Tigers surpass team single season stolen base mark

Junior shortstop Kyler Trosclair became Memphis' all-time stolen base leader after stealing second in the top of the first inning of game one. She surpassed Leandra Hines' previous record of 57.

The Tigers scored all five of its runs in the first three innings of game one to take the early lead. The Skyhawks put pressure on the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh, but solid defense by Trosclair with the bases loaded ended the game in favor of Memphis.

UT Martin scored two in the bottom of the first of game two and held on to the lead until the top of the sixth inning. Tyler Johnson's home run in the top of the fifth ignited the Memphis offense into one run in the fifth, three in the sixth, and two more in the seventh to take over the lead from the Skyhawks.

Katie Brignac and Christian Novak each recorded victories in the circle and Novak was credited with the save in game one.

Notables
- In game one, Kyler Trosclair became Memphis' all-time stolen base leader with 58 career swipes.
- The Tigers stole five bases in game one, which allowed for Memphis to surpass the previous school record of 89 stolen bases. Memphis will go into the weekend series against UCF with 93 total stolen bases.
- Lindsey Stickrod hit two doubles in game one, matching her previous career-high in a game of two against Furman on March 12, 2016.
- Tyler Johnson got the offense going in game two and finished the afternoon going 4-for-6 for Memphis.
- Eight different Tigers had multi-hit games over the course of the doubleheader.
- Christian Novak registered her third save of the year to start off her day before coming in and pitching a complete game in game two. She finished with eight strikeouts for the Tigers.

- Top 1 – Kyler Trosclair led the game off by reaching on a fielding error by the second baseman. She scored on a double by Lindsay Crowdus. Crowdus scored on a double by Lindsey Stickrod. (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, 1 left on base)
- Top 2 – Erin Parker led the inning off with a single to third base. She stolen second and advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a double to left center by Trosclair. (1 run, 2 hits, 1 errors, 3 left on base)
- Bottom 2 – With one out, UT Martin had a base runner reach with a single to right center. After stealing second, that runner scored on a single through the right side. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on base)
- Top 3 – Stickrod recorded her second double of the game to lead off the inning. She scored after Brooke Lee singled to left center. A single through the right side by Trosclair scored Tyler Johnson, who pinch ran for Xiomara Santiago. (2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
- Bottom 3 – The leadoff batter singled to the shortstop to get on base. She proceeded to steal second and scored on a single up the middle. (1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left on base)
- Bottom 7 – UT Martin started the inning off with three straight singles to load the bases. A fielder's choice play scored the first run of the inning and a single to second base scored the second. (2 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, 3 left on base).
Game 2: Memphis 6, UT Martin 2
- Bottom 1 – The leadoff batter for UT Martin reached on a fielding error. She scored after a stolen base and a single through the left side. The second run of the inning scored on a single to shortstop. (2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, 2 left on base)
- Top 5 – Tyler Johnson hit a solo home run to dead centerfield to cut the UT Martin lead to 2-1. (1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors, 3 left on base)
- Top 6 – With one out, Regan Hadley singled up the middle to get the offense rolling for Memphis. Johnson registered another hit after Hadley's single to put runners on first and second with one out. Parker reached on a throwing error by the third baseman and the first run scored. A single by Hannah Harrell scored two more to give Memphis a 4-2 lead. (3 runs, 3 hits, 2 errors, 1 left on base)
- Top 7 – Addison Maxwell led the inning off with a single up the middle and scored after Hadley and Johnson both singled. Another run scored on a single by Parker. (2 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, 2 left on base)
