Softball Welcomes Houston For Final Home Series

The schedule has adjusted to doubleheader Friday and single game Saturday
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team will see its home schedule come to a close this weekend after a three-game conference series against Houston. Memphis is riding on a two-game winning streak after defeating Alcorn State on Tuesday in a doubleheader.

With the weather forecast looking all but desirable on Sunday, the Tigers and the Cougars will now play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. and a single game at 2 p.m. (originally scheduled time) on Saturday. Memphis will recognize its four seniors, Lindsay Crowdus, Hannah Harrell, Calli Irvin, and Lindsey Stickrod, approximately 25 minutes prior to first pitch on Saturday.

231 -Â Â Â With 231 hits, Lindsay Crowdus has become the all-time hits leader at Memphis, surpassing the previous high of 207 set by Leila Dolfo in 2009.

• The Cougars are coming off of a loss to McNeese State where the Cowgirls defeated Houston on a walk-off hit.
• Maya Thomas leads the Cougars offensively with a .436 batting average in 41 games. She has recorded a team-high 51 hits with an on base percentage of .455.
• As a squad, the Cougars are hitting .296 with a .428 slugging percentage backed by 31 home runs.Â
• Savannah Heebner, a dual threat pitcher with power at the plate as well, is the team's leading hurler with a 2.02 ERA in 125.0 innings pitched. She is also hitting .297 for the Cougars with 33 hits in 11 at bats.
• The Houston staff as a whole owns a 2.66 team ERA with 204 total strikeouts.
• The Cougars are under the direction of first year head coach Kristin Vesely.
