MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis ran out eight different pitchers as the Tigers lost 11-4 to Arkansas State Tuesday night at FedExPark. The Tigers (20-13) will continue the home stand this weekend by hosting Houston Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Red Wolves scored in six different innings, plating three runs in the top of the first and going up 6-1 through three. Memphis fought back to cut the lead to 6-4 but Arkansas State scored two more in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth to put the game away.

Danny Denz started the game and took the loss to drop to 1-1 this season.

The Tigers got eight hits from eight different players in the game. Freshman Clayton Keller got his first career hit in a pinch-hit opportunity late in the game.

Arkansas State took a 3-0 lead in the first inning after a two-run homer and a sacrifice fly.

Denz started the second inning with a walk and his day was ended as the Tigers turned to Bryan Cruse out of the bullpen. Arkansas State added a run to the lead after another walk and a single to make the score 4-0.

The Red Wolves made the lead 6-0 with two more runs in the third inning.

Taylor Bobo settled things down, coming into the game in the third and then pitching scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth. He finished with 2 2/3 innings pitched and just one hit allowed.

Memphis got a run back in the third when Chris Carrier singled to drive in Tyler Webb.

Memphis scored three runs in the fifth to cut the Arkansas State lead to 6-4. In the inning the Tigers reached on an error, two walks and a hit batter. Trent Turner hit an RBI single and Zach Schritenthal drove in a run with a groundout.

Arkansas State came right back to extend the lead to 8-4 in the top of the sixth and later put the game out of reach.
