Tigers Volleyball Adds To 2017 Class

Gleason enrolled at Memphis for 2017 spring semester.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis volleyball head coach April Jauregui announced Wednesday that Tia Gleason is joining the Tigers volleyball program for 2017. Gleason is the eighth newcomer in the 2017 class.
Gleason is an early enrollee for the program. She began attending classes at Memphis Jan. 17 and is participating in spring workouts.
The North Bay, Ontario, Canada, native is one of eight newcomers on the 2017 Tigers roster. The other seven members of the 2017 class are: Kelsea Bivins, Hannah Flowers, Kate Hoerdemann, Alyssa Kronberg, Daija Lowe, Adjuwa Osborne and Joze Smith. Those seven signed with Memphis in the November early period.

Most recently, starred at setter for Defensa's U17 squad … Member of Defensa's U17 team that won the silver medal at the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) Challenge Cup in December of 2016 … Has played with the Defensa club program since 2015 …
In July of 2015, won gold with the Team Ontario U16 squad (provincial team) at the Canadian National Championships held in Richmond, British Columbia … Following the tournament, selected to join the Canadian Junior National Development Team …
Prior to Defensa, a member of the Vision Volleyball Club (VVC) … Played with the highly-successful U15 VVC team  … Squad won a gold and a bronze in two tournaments in which it played an age level up (U16) … Took bronze at the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) U16 Provincial Cup in November of 2013 … Two months later in January of 2014, helped squad to the gold at the U16 OVA McGregor Cup … Team also won gold at the OVA Challenge Cup (January, 2014) and Canadian National Open Championships/Division I (May, 2014) …
Played with the North Bay Lakers Club program … Earned Ontario Volleyball Championships U13 Award of Excellence recognition …
Member of the varsity field hockey and track and field teams at Assumption Catholic Secondary School for two years … Also saw action on the basketball court for the Crusaders' junior varsity program one season.

Coach Jauregui's comments on Gleason: "Tia joins us for the spring semester and is part of our 2017 class. It is a great advantage that she is here to train with our setter coach Kallie Noble this spring. Tia is extremely athletic, hardworking and has a drive to win. She has already connected well with our team and will have the opportunity to play this spring. I look forward to seeing her grow and develop over the next few months."
