Tigers Travel to Arkansas State Tuesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis will head to Arkansas State for its final road midweek game Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro, Ark. Both the Tigers and Red Wolves dropped road series last weekend.

Memphis won the series opener over the Houston Cougars before dropping games two and three. On Saturday the Tigers got an outstanding pitching performance from senior Matt Ferguson, who tossed a career high eight innings and allowed just two runs. The Tigers unfortunately lost the game in 12 innings.
Senior right fielder Jake Little continues to lead the Tigers offensively with a .324 batting average, 25 RBI and 32 runs scored. Along with junior infielder Brandon Grudzielanek, the two are the only Memphis players to start every game this season.
Arkansas State won the previous meeting with the Tigers this season, 11-5, at FedExPark in March. The Red Wolves stepped out of conference play last weekend and dropped two-of-three to Northwestern State.
Infielder Tanner Ring is the team's leading hitter with a .313 batting average while also leading in extra-base hits with 12 doubles and seven homers. Two other Red Wolves are batting over .300 with Joe Schrimpf hitting .307 and Garrett Rucker at .303.
Memphis will continue its seven-game road swing when it heads to New Orleans, La. for a three-game weekend series at nationally-ranked and league-leading Tulane from May 13-15.
