Leading Off
• Memphis salvaged a game from last weekend's series against East Carolina in dramatic fashion. Zach Schritenthal hit a two-out walk-off single in the ninth to win the game, 6-5.
• The Tigers' win on Sunday snapped a five-game losing streak. The streak was the second of the season of five games and the fifth of at least three games.
• Cincinnati is much improved from 2015, already eclipsing last season's overall win total and equaling their win total in American Athletic Conference play.
• The Bearcats won both of the series over the Tigers last season, using a pair of extra-inning wins to clinch each series. Memphis won the last meeting between the two teams, eliminating Cincinnati from the AAC Tournament with a 14-9 win.
• Preseason All-American Nolan Blackwood recorded his 22nd career save in the April 9 win over USF and now holds the program record for career saves.
• Jake Little is having a solid senior season for the Tigers. The four-year Memphis player is batting a team-high .331 with 18 RBI and 26 runs scored after suffering an injury-plagued season in 2015.
• The Tigers started the season with a platoon at first base before Jacob Elliott took over at the position. Elliott has started the last 22 games at first base for Memphis and is batting .299 with 20 RBI and 13 runs scored.
• Junior outfielder Chris Carrier returned to the lineup for last week's two midweek games after not starting the previous weekend at USF. Carrier had three doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in the two games. He's batting .252 with a team-high 11 doubles and 27 runs scored.
• Memphis stands in the top 50 in the NCAA with 55 stolen bases this season. The Tigers have been successful on the base paths as an entire team and no Memphis player is in the individual top 50 in the country in stolen bases.
• WUMR U 92-FM carries the radio broadcasts throughout the season. Jeff Brightwell, who is joined by Greg Gaston for home games, will be on the call.
• The Memphis baseball program is in its fourth season as a partner with Baden Sports and swings the Axe Bat exclusively.
