Women's Tennis Sweeps No. 61 SMU

MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (8-12, 3-3 American) swept No. 61 SMU (14-5, 3-2) in an American Athletic Conference match at The Racquet Club of Memphis, Friday.
Memphis started out strong with wins at 1 and 2 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. The Tigers were also up 6-5 in the match at No. 3 when the point was decided.
"We've been playing really well in doubles," Head Coach Hayden Perez said. "I think we've won the doubles point in three of our last four matches, so that's given us good momentum going in to singles play. This was a good win for us, especially so close to conference play."
Marta Morga then gave the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Memphis then got a 6-2, 6-4 win from Anki Wind at No. 1 singles and Kathryn Hughes closed out the victory with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 to seal the victory.
Memphis closes out its 2015 homestand Saturday morning at 11 a.m. when the Lady Tigers host USF at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
